miggylol:

You show up for your first day at Copyright-Free Magic School. As you’re going through orientation, you’re informed that all new students get a school-assigned familiar that they are responsible for housing and maintaining. The staff member assures you that your assigned familiar is appropriately chosen and reflects you in some way.

Spin this to find out yours. (Remember, you are responsible for maintaining this familiar in your dorm room.)

What’s your reaction to what you received?

Oh, hell yeah!

Pretty nice

I can work with this

Not what I would have picked, but okay

Ugh. Ugh. …Ugh.

How does this reflect me?!

………..I’m supposed to keep this in my dorm room?

I have a liberal arts degree which means I also have a favorite citation style and hate the other ones. If you know you know.

it’s so wild to be loved. to be valued, to be appreciated, to be told this is your space too, you know. we like your energy.

to be told GMing could be a good side gig for you. you’re a good storyteller. why aren’t you doing this yet?

to be told yep, the new intake has to pay to join the GM programme. but if you’re serious, we can talk and work something out.

to be loved. to be valued. to be appreciated. to be told that you are.

i hope i never get used to it, and i hope i never take it for granted.

Dimension 20: Misfits and Magic
Season 2, Episode 8: The Man We’ve Been Waiting For

This is one of my favorite moments in the series! It’s such an important realization, and I’m so happy it was Jammer that triggered it. You can hear the truth a hundred ways, but it’s still a leap of faith to KNOW it.

You were brought to Gowpenny after the discovery that anyone can do magic!

The physical manifestations of magic see you as their peers!

Lemli took the magic from the bones of dead wizards!

K has a server farm of amplification magic in their mind!

You are magic.

YOU ARE MAGIC.

The wand and the houses and the twee little magical isekai are a PSYOP meant to hold you back. Nostalgia for the past is holding you back. Snap the wand, because you can build something better to take its place. Even the mechanics tell the story. This was always the story.

The myth that knights could barely move in their armor has finally been dispelled by Thrillist

TBH, this outcome makes sense if you think about what all 3 of these roles need to do. The firefighter has to go fast even in awkward, obstacle-filled environments. The knight needs to close into melee quickly even when unhorsed, and move well while swinging a spear, sword or polearm. The modern soldier still has a use for some speed and agility, but doesn’t need to close in quick like the knight does - he’s got a gun.
